Let’s build a more sustainable supply chain ecosystem by bringing responsible manufacturers and local community consumers closer to foster trust and reduce carbon footprints, packaging and electronic waste.
Our journey into community commerce began with a simple WhatsApp group, created to connect neighbors for referrals to local services like dentists and plumbers. However, the real breakthrough came when we negotiated a special group rate with a lawn mowing company-$15 instead of the usual $25 to $30. In just one week, we rallied 182 members to join, demonstrating the power of community collaboration.
As we packed up our house to rent it out, I was taken aback by the sheer number of boxes we accumulated. What started as a lighthearted joke about our situation turned into a revelation: this is a common challenge many people face, especially in the wake of online shopping.
During a recent trip to China, I reconnect with old friends in manufacturing and witnessed firsthand the struggles faced by ethical, well-intentioned brands. As they strive to produce quality products and foster responsible company cultures, they are undercut by low-quality, unethical manufacturers who use similar-looking materials at rock-bottom prices. These honest businesses find themselves at the mercy of marketplaces that lack control over product quality and profit from penalties imposed on vendors. Furthermore, these platforms often advertise products at steep discounts, distorting consumer perceptions of value and holding genuine brands hostage. This not only undermines product integrity but also threatens their development efforts and market reputation.
So I take it upon myself to solves all these problems and Serlocal is born.
